Tatoian Gets 100th Career Hit, But Griffins Fall To Arcadia

GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Dave Tatoian notched his 100th career hit and Nick Mulvey tied a career high with four hits, but it was Arcadia coming away with an 18-6 non-conference decision on a breezy Tuesday afternoon.

Tatoian notched the milestone in the seventh, with a single through the hole to left with runners on first and second. He becomes the 30th player in program history to reach the century mark.

For Mulvey, he would go 4-for-5 on the day with a pair of doubles, which also tied a personal best, an RBI and a run scored in the contest. Justin Curtin went 2-for-2 with three walks, an RBI and a run. Josh Lopez hit his fourth homerun of the season, an opposite field solo shot in the second.

The Knights plated runs in the each of the first five innings to put the Griffins (21-13-1) in a deficit.

Mulvey led off the fourth with a double and come around to score on a base hit from Tommy Nardini. In that seventh, Mulvey knocked home Tatoian for his lone RBI.

Arcadia's Nick Potente was 4-for-4 with three RBI's and two runs while teammate Nick Cardace (3-for-4) also drove in three. Six players would finish with multi-hits for the Knights (29-11).

Sachael Sciarretta suffered the loss (1-1) for GMercyU.

The Griffins will open a CSAC series with Marywood on Friday, needing one win to clinch a berth in the conference tournament which starts next week. Friday will have the Pacers coming to Gwynedd Valley for a nine-inning tilt before the two teams meet on Saturday in Scranton for a doubleheader.
