BOSTON, Mass. – With a combined seven hits, seven RBI, and six runs scored between Chris Fowler (Barnstable, Mass.) and Kyle Boudrias (Medford, Mass.), the 28thranked Beacons had no problem dispatching 15th/20th ranked Salve Regina University by the final of 17-6 Tuesday evening at Monan Park.

UMass Boston (26-9)
Salve Regina University (30-8)

HOW IT HAPPENED

After a rocky top of the fourth inning saw the Seahawks even the score at 4-4, the Beacons would unload 13 runs over the final four innings, while only allowing two to secure one of their most dominant wins of the season.

Fowler, who extended his hit-streak to 28-straight games led the charge for the Beacons as he knocked-in four runs on the night.  The Beacons go-to hitter during their now nine-game win-streak unloaded a two-run homer in the third inning, before knocking in a run on an RBI fielder's choice, and another on an RBI single.

Boudrias was just as impressive as he was one of three Beacons to record a double in the victory to go along with three RBI and three runs scored.

On the mound Fernando Burgos (Hyde Park, Mass.) collected his fourth win of the season.  The righty struck out three, and allowed four runs, all unearned, on five hits.  In his first start in exactly two weeks, Burgos was solid through the first four innings.  However, a couple of Beacons errors in the fifth which resulted in the Seahawks four-runs would cut Burgos' outing short.

Bryan Kaufman (Farmingdale, N.Y.) would then go three complete.  After a tough sixth inning, the righty cruised over the seventh and eighth frames retiring five batters in a row.  Alex Carusotto (Pittsfield, Mass.) closed out the ninth with a strikeout and a pair of flyouts.

After back-to-back two-run innings, which included Fowler's bomb in the third, the Beacons were found themselves with a pretty comfortable lead over the Seahawks.  However, the four-run fifth made things a little more interesting, but not for very long.

UMB wasted little time taking back the momentum in the huge match-up as they tacked on three runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning to take a 7-4 lead.  Salve cut the lead back to two (7-5) in the sixth, but the Beacons would once again respond, this time with three more runs in the same inning.

After a shutdown seventh by Kaufman, the Beacons erupted for six runs to blow the game wide open.  Salve would once again fail to get anything going in the eighth, and with another run for the Beacons, the win was secured.

The Seahawks got their final run in the top of the ninth to close out the non-conference meeting.  Jonathan Lynch was handed the loss (1-1).  Salve Regina used a total of seven pitchers on Tuesday, and recorded a combined nine strikeouts respectively.
