Bison eliminated from CCC Tournament by Salve Regina, 10-0

NEWPORT, R.I. – The Nichols College baseball team fell 10-0 to top seeded Salve Regina in an elimination game of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament Monday afternoon at Reynolds Field.
 
Junior southpaw Jimmy Fitzgerald (Canton, Mass.) pitched a gem for the Seahawks – allowing no runs on just one hit through seven innings while striking out 13 Bison.
 
Freshman Andrew Charbonneau (Berlin, Conn.) – who had the save in the first game of the day – took the loss after starting the game and only registering one out while allowing two runs on one hit and two walks. Junior StigErik McElhinney (Dracut, Mass.) worked the bulk of the game for Nichols – pitching 5.2 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out two.
 
The Bison were held to a season-low two hits – one from freshman Kyle Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) and the other from classmate Christian Naccari (Ossining, N.Y.).
 
Senior Hunter Sleeper (Arlington, Mass.) paced the Seahawks with a three-hit day while driving in a run and scoring two others. Sophomore Brody Santilli (Lincoln, R.I.) also accounted for three runs – scoring one and picking up a pair of RBI's.
 
The Seahawks score two runs in first, second, and fourth innings before exploding for four runs in the seventh to make up the scoring on the game.

The Seahawks have defeated the Bison in five of the last six meetings and lead the all-time series at, 43-13.
