WAYNE, N.J. – Ryan Sabbag's (Miami, Fla.) two-out RBI triple in the seventh inning proved to be the difference, as the Drew University baseball team (4-1) earned a 2-1 victory over William Paterson (0-2) at Jeff Albies Field on Wednesday afternoon.  Joshua Williams(Harrison, N.J.) and Vinny Doren (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) combined to toss five shutout innings out of the bullpen, as the Rangers recorded their fourth consecutive win.

After Drew put an unearned run on the board in the top of the fourth, William Paterson tied it on Greg Cuevas' RBI single in the bottom half of the inning.  It remained 1-1 until the seventh, when Isaiah Mateo (Hoboken, N.J.) roped a two-out single through the right side.  Sabbag was up next, and he smoked a triple to center that knocked in Mateo and put the Rangers back in front, 2-1.

William Paterson loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the seventh, but Doren induced a groundout to end the inning.  The Pioneers again rallied in the ninth, putting runners on first and second with one down.  However, Doren got a fly ball and a groundout to lock down the save and extend the Rangers' winning streak to four.

The Rangers were held to just four hits in the game, with Zach Lipshitz (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and Matthew Lange(Glen Rock, N.J.) each singling in the fourth.  Starting pitcher Pete Violante (Easton, Pa.) lasted four innings.  He allowed one run on three hits and struck out three.  Williams (1-0) earned the win after yielding just three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 2.2 innings, while Doren went the final 2.1 innings and was credited with his first career save.  He held the Pioneers to two hits and a walk while also picking up a strikeout.

Cuevas and Carson Weis each had two hits for William Paterson, with Weis scoring the Pioneers' only run.  Chris Babb (0-1) took the loss after surrendering two runs (one earned) on four hits with six strikeouts and three walks in 6.2 innings of work.  Adam Miller and Doug Olcese each tossed 0.2 innings in relief before Bryan Kopko pitched the ninth.

Drew now heads south for its annual Florida Gulf Coast Spring Training trip.  The Rangers will play seven games during their week in the Sunshine State, starting with a 1 p.m. contest against Hilbert (0-0) on Saturday.
