WINCHESTER, Va. – No. 17/16 Shenandoah University completed an undefeated week by sweeping a non-league baseball doubleheader from CCNY Sunday afternoon.

Shenandoah (6-2) won 9-6 and 11-4 in the double-dip wins over the Beavers (0-4).

CCNY jumped on game one starter Gerard DePhillips for three runs in the first, but the Hornets answered back by scoring one run in the second and three in the third.

Shenandoah scored in every inning of game one except the first.

Senior Michael Bugonowicz (2-1), the fourth SU pitcher of the contest, earned his second win of the week with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Bugonowicz allowed just one walk while striking out four.

With the score tied at 6-6 heading to the bottom of the fifth, the Hornets took the lead for good by scoring two runs without the benefit of a hit. David Delawder was hit by pitch to lead off the frame and scored one batter later as CCNY had a throwing error on Luke Nussman's sacrifice bunt.

The three-base error allowed Nussman to score two pitches later on a wild pitch.

Keegan Woolford and Tristan Baker both had two hits with Woolford driving in two runs on a double down the right field line in the third.

Shenandoah banged out 16 hits in game two to complete the sweep. A four-run first, coupled with two in the third and three more in the fourth, proved to be enough offense for six Hornets pitchers.

Senior Colin Morse (1-0), who came on in relief of junior Robert Klinchock to start the fifth, picked up the win. Morse gave up an unearned run on one hit and two walks in two innings of work. He also struck out two.

Sophomore James Papeika was 4-for-4 at the plate with Woolford and Grant Thompson each getting three hits.

Papeika, Thompson and Robert Marcelle, the 3-4-5 hitters in the SU lineup, all drove in three runs.

Shenandoah is off until opening ODAC play Saturday at Lynchburg.
