The Baruch College baseball program has played many memorable games over the years, but Monday is one doubleheader for the ages.

The Bearcats and Newbury College Nighthawks totaled 59 runs and 64 hits to split a non-conference doubleheader.

In the first game, Michael McGroarty had the hot bat going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Davic Capellan (2 runs), Liam O'Gara (3 RBI), and Nicholas Altopiedi (1 run) had two hits each.

The Nighthawks started by jumping out to 4-1 lead, but the Bearcats cut the score to 4-3 on a two RBI single by two-time CUNYAC Rookie of the Week O'Gara in the third inning.

The Nighthawks added four more runs in the fourth inning to force the Bearcats to play catch up again, which they did by plating three runs in their bottom four on a Davic Capellan RBI single and two RBI single by McGroarty for an 8-6 score after four innings of play.

The Bearcats would not get any closer in suffering the 11-7 loss to their opponent that competes in the New England College Conference (NECC).

Nick Dorazio batted 3-for-3, scoring three times, for the winning Nighthawks.

In the second game, the bats were alive again for both teams with the Bearcats winning by a football score of 21-20.

The Bearcats scored four or more runs in four different innings, which also included scoring at least one run in each of the seven innings.

Edwin St. Hilaire totaled a career-high seven RBI and had what stood as the game-winning hit with his two RBI single in the seventh inning. He also smacked a solo homer in the third inning. 

Gerardo Roque also had a career-high with six RBI, while McGroarty finished with a career-high five runs scored to round out a memorable afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida.  

Brian Cipolla led the opponent at the plate by batting 4-for-6 with eight RBIs.
