REDLANDS, Calif. – The Ithaca College baseball team picked up a signature win in California on Friday afternoon as the Bombers took down No. 25 University of Redlands, 7-6, at The Yard in Redlands. Ithaca improves its record to 6-5 on the season, while Redlands falls to 15-5.

Ithaca jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the second inning as five runs scored on three hits by the Bombers. The rally started with walks to juniors Jake Generali and Adam Gallagher. After a flyout by junior John Peterson moved Generali to third, junior Cam Fuoti singled through the right side to bring home Generali.

Two more runs scored on the ensuing at bat as junior Matt Carey ripped a through the left, which was compounded by an error from the Bulldogs, to let Gallagher and Fuoti to scamper home. The inning continued with a walk to senior Domenic Boresta, and then junior Andrew Bailey drove a triple to centerfield to cap off the frame with a pair of RBI. Carey and Boresta came home on the extra base hit.

Redlands got on the board in the bottom of the third inning with an infield single and an error that allowed a Bulldog to score from second.

The Bombers answered in the top of the fourth, as junior Webb Little cranked a two-out solo home run to right field for his third round-tripper of the season, to put IC back up by five runs, 6-1.

The Bulldogs pulled to within three runs, 6-3, in the bottom half of the fourth. Redlands led off with a double and then a single brought in the first run of the frame. After another double put both runners in scoring position, a sacrifice fly drove in another run.

Ithaca's lead went back out to four runs, 7-3, in the seventh as junior John Peterson drove in classmate Sam Little with a sacrifice fly. S. Little reached base with a single and moved his way to third base after a base hit by Generali and walk by Gallagher.

Junior Jake Binder attempted to record his second complete game of the season as he headed out for the ninth inning. Binder retired two batters, but surrendered a double and issued a walk and hit by pitch, which forced him out of the game.

W. Little entered in relief for a save opportunity, but was faced with a tough situation with a bases loaded jam. The next batter ripped a double to the gap to clear the bases, which made the score, 7-6, but W. Little induced a pop up in the next at bat to close out the contest.

Binder allowed nine hits and six runs (five earned) with four strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the year.

Boresta and W. Little each recorded two hits to lead the 10-hit output for IC.

The Bombers wrap up their California trip tomorrow at Occidental. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. (PST) in Los Angeles.
