ASHLAND, Va. – Senior Cole Migliorini (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) and sophomore Ryan Duphorn (Erial, N.J./Paul VI) each had four hits and three RBI as the 17th-ranked Randolph-Macon baseball team completed a two-game ODAC sweep of Guilford with a 17-3 victory on Sunday afternoon on Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park.

The Yellow Jackets (12-2, 4-0 ODAC) extended their win streak to six, while the Quakers fell to 9-8-1 overall and 1-3 in league play.

The R-MC offense put up crooked numbers in four different innings, including nine in the seventh, in support of junior starter Nick Roth (Henrico, Va./Benedictine). In six innings, Roth scattered six hits and allowed one earned run with no walks and eight strikeouts. On the season, Roth (3-0) has pitched 25 innings with no walks and 18 strikeouts.

After a pair of scoreless frames, the Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the third. Sophomore Michael Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) drew a leadoff walk and was sacrificed to second by sophomore Zach Evans (Fort Mill, S.C./Seneca). An infield single by Duphorn advanced to Nickles to third and a groundout by junior Jeff Butler (Chesapeake, Va./Western Branch) plated Nickles with the game's first run. Duphorn would score on an error, and Migliorini walked and came home on a base hit by senior Rick Spiers (South Chesterfield, Va./Matoaca) to give the home team a 3-0 advantage.

After GC put up two runs in the top of the fourth, R-MC responded in the bottom of the inning. Senior Joseph Tuzzolo (Newport News, Va./Menchville) walked and scored on a double by sophomore Reece Yeargain (Richmond, Va./Benedictine). A single by Duphorn drove in Yeargain as the Yellow Jackets took a 5-2 advantage.

In the fifth, Butler, Migliorini and sophomore Shawn Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) all reached base and scored to put the home team up 8-2.

The Quakers plated their final run in the sixth before R-MC put the game away with nine in the seventh. Migliorini led off the inning with his third home run of the season and added a two-run single later in the frame. Duphorn had a two-run single and senior Devin Strickler (York, Pa./Eastern York) capped the rally with a two-run triple to make the final 17-3.

Migliorini went 4 for 4 with four runs, three RBI and two stolen bases. Duphorn and Yeargain both knocked in three.

Randolph-Macon continues ODAC play on Wednesday, March 21 with a 3:30 p.m. contest at Virginia Wesleyan.
