AUBURNDALE, FL - The Benedictine University baseball team finished the spring trip to Florida with a loss to Western New England
Western New England 11, Benedictine 5
• Western New England jumped ahead in the top of the first inning, using back-to-back extra-base hits to jump ahead 2-0
• Playing as the visiting team, the advantage reached 8-0, breaking the contest open with four runs in the sixth
• Benedictine scored for the first time in the bottom of the sixth
• Kyle Mitter led off with a double and scored on a single from Jonathan Hodo
• Western New England responded by scoring three more in the top of the seventh
• Benedictine extended the game with a run in the bottom of the inning and notched the final four runs of the game with three additional tallies in the eighth
• Kyle Sinclair walked to lead off the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly from A.J. Navarro
• Matthew Rosko doubled home Hodo, who singled, in the eighth
• Christian Hubbard and Nicholas Quick tacked on RBI singles in the frame
• Western New England placed runners on base in all but two innings
• Benedictine finished 7-3 on the trip
• Alexander Schram suffered the loss on the mound, working five innings in his second start of the trip
• Western New England banged out 15 hits, the most against Benedictine on the trip
• Benedictine rapped out nine hits
• Hodo and Mitter tallied two hits apiece
• Joshua Silverman and Jared Harris logged scoreless innings on the mound
Benedictine (8-4) opens conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader at Lakeland
