Baruch, Lehman Split CUNYAC Doubleheader

The Bearcats and Lehman College went on to split a CUNYAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon during the best weather day of the 2018 year.

In the opener, the visiting Bearcats pounded out 16 hits and scored 14 total runs in the final three innings for a 17-4 win.

Gerardo Roque smacked a grand slam in a six-run, sixth inning that blew the contest wide open. He finished with a career-high six RBI.

Davic Capellan batted 3-for-4, with three RBI and three runs scored, while also adding a stolen base.

Angel Acevedo also carried a big bat going 3-for-3 with a career-high five RBIs.

Paul Sirakowski earned the win and struck out nine to raise his season total to 49 strikeouts, which is an ongoing personal best. 

In the second game, the Lightning won 7-2. They tallied three runs in their first at-bat, but a two-run homer by Michael McGroarty cut the score to 3-2 in the top third.

The Lightning scored twice in their bottom third and added a run in each of the fourth and sixth innings to salvage the split on their home soil.

Rich Frommel earned the complete game win with three strikeouts.
