Senior second baseman Brad Schneider (Ambler, Pa./LaSalle College H.S.) drove in three runs and junior righty Pat Rohr (Audubon, Pa./Devon Prep) tossed seven strong innings to lead The University of Scranton baseball team to a 4-2 win over Catholic in the final game of their Landmark Conference series at Volpe Field on Sunday.

Schneider delivered a two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the third that gave the Royals (9-10, 3-4 Landmark) a 2-0 lead. He added an RBI single in the eighth for the insurance run as Scranton rebounded from a pair of losses to the Cardinals (21-9, 9-6 Landmark) on Saturday.

Rohr picked up his third win of the season by working seven innings, allow two runs, both earned, on five hits and six walks while striking out six. In the key moment of the game, Rohr worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the top of the fifth by inducing a pop out to right field and getting a strike out to end the threat.

Freshman left fielder Connor Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal Central) drove in the eventual winning run in the bottom of the fourth after Catholic had tied the game at 2 with a pair of runs in the top half. Senior right fielder Chase Standen (Newtown Square, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a balk. He advanced to third when the Cardinals' pitcher threw a pick-off attempt into center field with one out. Harding then chopped a ball just past the pitcher and first baseman where the Catholic second baseman snagged it and was only able to outrun Harding to first for the second out while Standen came home.

Junior righty Bryan Carmon (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) worked the final two innings for his third save of the season. He worked around a leadoff single in the eighth, then had runners on first and second with one out in the ninth after an error and an intentional walk. But he got a strikeout looking for the second out and a fly ball to right field to end the game.

Senior catcher Kevin Nolan (Ossining, N.Y./Fordham Prep) had two hits, scored a run and stole a base. In the three-game series, he had six hits, two runs, an RBI and six stolen bases.

Senior center fielder Tommy Trotter (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) singled, walked twice, scored twice and stole a base in the win.

The Royals will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Wayne, N.J. to take on William Paterson at 4 p.m.
