WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — The Keuka College Baseball teamed opened their North Eastern Athletic Conference schedule with a split on Saturday at Penn College.
Keuka College (7-9, 1-1 NEAC) won the opening game 7-5, but fell in the nightcap to the Wildcats 10-5.
Keuka College 7 at Penn College 5
It was an eventful start to the game as both teams combined for seven runs in the first inning. Keuka College got RBI singles by Kyle Colegrove (Elkland, Pa. / Williamson) and Tyler Freedman (Rochester, N.Y. / Aquinas) to take the lead in the top of the inning. Penn College responded with five runs in the bottom of the first to lead 5-2 after one.
The score would hold until the sixth inning. The Wolves got a leadoff single by Alec Bowie (Sparta, N.J. / Sparta) to start the rally. John Rizzo (Auburn, N.Y. / Auburn) singled him home. With two outs, Dan Bamann (Rochester, N.Y. / Irondequoit) delivered the big hit in the inning. He doubled down the right field line to score two and tie the game at 5-5. Following a pitching change, Kyle Colegrove had has second RBI single of the game, scoring Bamann and giving the Wolves a 6-5 lead. Keuka College added an insurance run in the seventh as the Wolves defeated Penn College 7-5.
Lead Wolf: Ryan Lawrence (Rochester, N.Y. / Brighton) entered the game in the first inning and got a flyout to stop the Wildcats. He then proceeded to pitch five more innings of scoreless relief for the Wolves. Lawrence allowed just three hits and struck out three Wildcats in the process.
Penn College 10 vs. Keuka College 5
Keuka College got on the board first in Game 2 of the doubleheader. The Green and Gold scored three runs in the third inning for the early lead. John Rizzo and Kyle Colegrove each had RBI singles in the inning and Dan Bamann plated a run on a sacrifice fly.
In the fourth inning, the Wolves increased their lead to 5-0 on a two-run double by John Rizzo. However, that would be the last runs of the day for Keuka College. Penn College would score 10 unanswered runs as they defeated Keuka College 10-5 to split the doubleheader.
Lead Wolf: Kyle Colegrove delivered three hits from the clean-up spot in the lineup for Keuka College. Overall, Colegrove has had 8 hits in his last 11 at-bats and leads Keuka College with a .485 batting average on the season.

- Keuka College has split the regular season doubleheader with Penn College in each of the last three seasons
- Saturday was Keuka College's first ever trip to Penn College
- John Rizzo had a combined four hits on the day, becoming just the eighth player in Keuka College Baseball history to reach the 100-hit plateau
- Ryan Caroway (Binghamton, N.Y. / Susquehanna Valley) had six strikeouts in Game 2 for Keuka College. He now has 89 in his career moving into sole possession of fifth on the Keuka College career list
Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves return home to Kuhl Field on Tuesday, hosting North Eastern Athletic Conference rival Cazenovia College. Keuka College has won three straight against the Wildcats, winning the sole game last season and sweeping the doubleheader in 2016. Overall, however, the Wolves are 19-36 all-time against Cazenovia College.
