Senior Hunter Hunt went 3-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer with four RBI to lead St. Thomas Baseball to a 15-8 win over Gustavus in game one of Monday's MIAC doubleheader at UST's Koch Diamond.

Gustavus secured the program's first playoff berth in 10 seasons with a 6-1 win in game two. Sam Archer threw a six-hitter for Gustavus (19-16 overall, 11-9 MIAC), which went 7-1 over the last week to tie for fifth place.

The Tommies (18-16), who tied for third place with St. Mary's, is the No. 4 seed and plays No. 5-seed Macalester Thursday at 7 p.m. in a playoff elimination game at CHS Field. That winner plays top-seed St. John's Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the double-elimination format.

St. Thomas clinched the program's 25th consecutive winning season and also secured the program's 25th consecutive top-four conference finish.

Concordia's 3-1 win over Macalester in game one knocked the Toms out of a chance at a No. 2 seed and first-round bye.

Zach Gottfredsen and freshman Kyle Halvorson each went 3-for-4 with two RBI to help the Toms post a season-high scoring total. UST scored five in the first inning but later fell behind 6-5. They used a five-run third inning to go ahead to stay.

UST's Caleb Fernholz hit a solo home run on Senior Day and went 2-for-3 in game two.
