The New York University baseball team defeated Farmingdale State College 8-7 on Monday, March 11, at MCU Park in Brooklyn.

NYU (5-0) led 8-0 heading into the ninth inning, but the Rams (2-1) scored seven runs in the final frame to make the final margin one run.

Zane Baker's first-career home run put the Violets ahead 2-0 in the first inning and the hosts added a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, before a four-run seventh gave them what felt like a very comfortable 8-0 advantage.

Sal Cammisuli tossed 6.1 scoreless innings to earn his first victory of the year. The junior scattered four hits and a walk while striking out three. He was relieved by Ford Ladd, who worked himself into a jam in the seventh, but was able to get a strikeout with the bases load to get out of the inning.

After Aaron Ackerman pitched a scoreless eighth, the Rams tagged the NYU bullpen for seven runs in the ninth. Those seven runs all came via the long ball as Patrick Leach hit a grand slam and Vince Napolitano followed it up with a three-run home run. 

Joseph Prisco came out of the bullpen to record the final out and earned his first save of the season.

Ryan McLaughlin also hit a home run for the Violets, while Jack Walter helped add to the lead in the seventh with a three-run double. 

NYU returns to action on Friday, March 15, when it opens up its spring break schedule in Tampa, Florida. The Violets will take on Alfred State University at 4pm on Himes Field at the New York Yankees Minor League Spring Training Complex in Tampa.
