The Baruch College Bearcats split a doubleheader with SUNY-Maritime at Silver Lake Park in West Harrison, New York, winning the first game 6-5, before falling in the second game, 12-1.
The Bearcats trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the third, but singles by JP Ramirez and Anthony Ippolito sparked a comeback, as they both scored on a Maritime error to make it 3-2.
Baruch took its first lead in the 5th, when JP Ramirez drove in two runs with a single to center field, making the score 5-4.
Baruch went up for good in the 6th when Ippolito tripled and drove in Kemal Deljanin to help notch the 6-5 victory.
Paul Sirakowski allowed just two earned runs in six innings to earn his first win of the season. Angel Acevedo retired all three batters he faced to pick up the save.
There would be no comeback for the Bearcats in the second game. Maritime scored seven runs in the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.
Angelo Alessandro scored the lone run after reaching base on a single in the first inning.
The baseball team returns to action on Tuesday, March 19, when they travel to Kings Point, New York to play the United States Merchant Marine Academy at 4:00 p.m.
