No time like the present, Bison improve to 4-0 in Florida

The Nichols College baseball team defeated Bard College 6-2 in a non-conference game at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Florida.
 
Nichols (6-5) stayed red hot when junior Christian Naccari belted his fifth home-run of the season to left field in the first inning to give the Bison the early 1-0 lead. Bard (5-4) answered back in the third inning when Alex Luscher scored on an infield error by the Bison that tied the game at one. The Bison went on to put up five runs across the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 6-1, including a three run, four hit sixth inning. Sophomore Nathaniel Cormier led the Bison with two hits, one run, and an RBI. Freshman Kyle Desjardins scored two runs, with one hit, and an RBI.
 
The Bison sent junior Tony Martignoli to the mound for his first collegiate start and he faired well collecting the win after pitching 6.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while striking out three Raptors.Junior Andrew Charbonneau came in to slam the door in the ninth. Bard sent Frank Ortega to the hill, he went six innings, giving up six runs (five earned), on six hits, and collected five strikeouts.
 
Three things you need to know…
-Naccari leads the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) in home runs (5) and RBI (15).
-After winning the first four games in Florida, the Bison are now over the .500 mark for the first time this season.
-This was the first ever meeting between the two ball clubs, the Bison improve to 1-0.
