Bison stay hot with win over Vikings

The Nichols College baseball team defeated Lawrence (WI) 5-1 in a non-conference game at Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee, Florida.

After the Vikings (1-5) took an early 1-0 lead on the Bison (7-5) in the first inning, senior Joe Assenza doubled to left center and drove in two runs to give the Bison the 2-1 lead. Junior Kyle Bouchard hit a long sacrifice fly in the seventh inning, before graduate student Chris Anderson broke the game open in the eighth inning with a two run big fly the left field to give Nichols the four-run lead.

Nichols used three pitchers, all going three innings apiece in the win. The pitching staff was able to put together nine innings of one run (zero earned) work. Sophomore Robert Cobb picked up the win, going three innings giving zero runs, on one hit, while striking out one batter.
 
Three things you need to know…
-The Bison are now 5-0 on the spring break trip to Florida.
-Nichols pitching staff has now allowed just two earned runs in the past three games.
-This was the first ever meeting between the two programs.
