GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- The Gwynedd Mercy Baseball Team was firing on all cylinders in their Atlantic East Doubleheader sweep of Marywood on Saturday. The Griffins jumped out early to win game one, 13-2 and rode the arm of Nick DeRitis in game two's 13-3 victory.

Game one
Starter R.J. Boyle turned in a gem, going six innings, allowing two runs on five hits with just one walk and tying a career-high with seven K's in the seven-inning contest. The offense cranked out 18 hits led by Dave Tatoian who tied a personal-high with four. His two-run home run in the first was part of a six spot in the frame. In the next inning, Josh Lopez got into the longball act, smacking a three-run shot.

Lopez drove in four to tie his best career output. Ryan Keen and Billy Collins added two hits apiece respectively while Tatoian scored three times.

Boyle was lights out, getting 1-2-3 innings in the second, third, and fourth.

Game two
Tatoian and Lopez went deep again along with home runs from Keen and Sachael Sciarretta to help power the offense.

Nick DeRitis was sharp on the mound, tying a personal-best mark on nine strikeouts as he went into the ninth for his longest outing of his career (8.2 innings). The senior did not allow a runner past second base until the ninth.

Scoreless into the third, GMercyU batted around in their at-bat to score seven runs. Sciaretta led off the frame with a homer to left. He later would add a two-run single with two outs where he finished with a career-best four RBIs. Keen added the second home run of the inning, this time a three-run shot to plate Tatoian and Nick Mulvey.

Tatoian led off the fourth with a shot out to left for his 20th career longball, which moves him into a tie for first place on the all-time record list. He then added a two-run single in the fifth.

Lopez cranked his second round-tripper on the day, this time as a leadoff in the sixth. It was more than enough for DeRitis who held the Pacers to just two hits in the first eight innings of work.

Tatoian, Sciarretta, Brandon Gray and Jason Mulvey all scored twice. Mulvey also added three hits on the day.

The team is right back at it on Monday when they host Misericordia here starting at 3:30 p.m.
