La PLUME, Pa. – The Keystone College baseball team moved back to .500 on the year and improved to 3-0 in the CSAC with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Centenary University on Saturday.
The Giants claimed game one 12-3 before taking game two, 15-2. Keystone is now 8-8 overall and 3-0 in the league. The Cyclones drop to 7-14 (0-3 CSAC).
Keystone 12, Centenary 3 (Game One)
The Giants enjoyed 17 hits as senior Chris Panzarella (Hazle Township, Pa./Hazleton Area), junior Nick Carlini (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) and senior Mohammed Hussein (Queens, NY/William C. Bryant) all tallied three hits each.
Carlini went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, including two homers. His first was a solo shot to left in the first and his second was a three-run bomb to left center in the fourth.
Panzarella went 3-for-4 with two RBI while Hussein also went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Freshman Devin Reed (Hazleton, Pa./Hazleton Area) went 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored while freshman Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman) and sophomore Easley De La Cruz (Middletown, NY/Pine Bush) both collected two hits each.
On the hill, sophomore righty Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) earned the win, tossing six innings while scattering five hits while striking out six. Junior Ramon Disla(Bronx, N.Y./Alfred E. Smith) tossed the final frame out of the bullpen.
Keystone 15, Centenary 2 (Game Two)
The Giants tallied 14 hits as Panzarella turned in a 4-for-4 day with three runs and three RBI. Reed, Carlini and junior Joe Fichera (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) all collected two hits each, and all had a triple apiece.
Senior Dakota McFadden (Rocky Point, NC/Heide Trask) and Hussein both drove in two RBI while juniors Ryan Callahan (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) and Jared Davis (Virginia Beach, Va./Bayside) both provided one RBI each.
Senior Christopher Adams (Brooklyn, NY/Franklin K. Lane) earned the start and the win, tossing four innings while striking out two. Freshman Jordan Montes (Tampa, Fla./Sickles), junior Sean Perry (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) and junior Zabdiel Parilla (Reading, Pa./Reading) all threw one frame in relief.
