LOS ANGELES — Jake Fredrickson was named the SCIAC Hitter of the Week on Monday after tearing the cover off the ball in a 3-0 series sweep of Pomona-Pitzer over the weekend.
Fredrickson, a sophomore first baseman from Shoreline, Wash., went 7 for 13 with three home runs, five runs scored, seven RBIs and a pair of doubles in the series. He's hitting .369 with a .506 on base percentage, five home runs, 28 RBIs and a .631 slugging percentage this season.
Oxy beat the Sagehens 9-7, 10-4 and 7-6.
The wins were huge for the Tigers, putting them back into the four-team SCIAC playoff mix at third place at 7-5.
Oxy is back in action with a three-game series against Caltech this weekend. The series begins in Pasadean on Friday at 3 p.m.
