Berry Baseball Topples No. 12 Piedmont 3-1

ROME, Ga. – The Berry College baseball team defeated the No. 12 Piedmont College Lions 3-1 in an out-of-conference game on Tuesday at home.

Tanner Still earned the win for the Vikings, tossing 7.0 innings, striking out one and giving up one run. William Gibbons earned his fourth save of the season, pitching 2.0 innings and striking out four.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Berry struck first in the home half of the first. Quinn Smith reached first on an error, scoring Dylan Beasley and Spence Johns.
  • Piedmont scored in the top of the fourth off of a Brady Ballstadt home run, making the score 2-1 in favor of the Vikings.
  • The Vikings scored the game's final run in the fourth off a Beasley RBI single to right center.

Berry will be on the road this weekend for a three-game Southern Athletic Association (SAA) conference series with Rhodes. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. Sunday's game will be at 1 p.m. as well.
