GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Dave Tatoian became the Gwynedd Mercy all-time leader in home runs on Thursday but it was Ursinus getting by the Griffins, 7-5, in non-conference action.

The senior, who was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs, and a stolen base in the game, hit his 21st career longball in the eighth, a solo shot to get GMercyU within two runs. He surpasses former Griffin greats Tim McMenamin and James Martin who each compiled 20 homers in their respective careers.

Tatoian helped give Gwynedd a 1-0 lead in the fourth with two outs as he scored from second on an error at shortstop off the bat of Ryan Keen.

Alex Mumme hit a two-run homer in the sixth to get the Bears on the board. In the bottom half, Tatoian knocked home Sachael Sciarretta again with two outs to tie things up at 2-2.

Ursinus then plated four runs in the seventh, three coming off a bases-loaded clearing triple from Jerry Scavone. Mumme added an RBI single to score Scavone for a 6-2 lead.

Josh Lopez got two of those runs back in the bottom half with his third home run on the season, a two-run blast. Ursinus added a run in the top of the eighth on a run-scoring triple before Tatoian countered with his milestone shot in his next at-bat.

Lopez would walk in the ninth to get a runner on, but the Bears' Nolan Graber was able to get a flyout and grounder to end the game.

Starter Bryan Kaelin pitched into the seventh where he struck out two, walked two and allowed five runs on six hits. He did work out of a jam in the first, with two on and later in the fourth and fifth innings.

Lopez was officially 1-for-3 with that two-run bomb and a walk.

The Griffins now turn their attention to this weekend's Atlantic East Doubleheader when they welcome in Immaculata for two starting at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
