The Baruch College Bearcats swept a CUNYAC doubleheader from John Jay College on Saturday night at Fordham University.

The Bearcats currently still sit all alone in CUNYAC first place with a 7-2 record.

Theodore Avgerinos paced the visiting Bearcats in the Game 1 win by scattering five hits over 6.0 innings with eight strikeouts to raise his season record to 4-0.

Ryan Warner retired all three batters he faced to earn the save in the 5-2 win.

John Jay scored a run in their first at-bat, but the Bearcats took the lead in the second inning on a two run homer by Kemal Deljanin that plated Jorge Keith Mercado. Michael McGroarty hit an RBI ground out to score Nicholas Valeriano in the fifth inning.

John Jay cut the score to 3-2 in their bottom sixth, but the Bearcats responded with two insurance runs in the top seventh as Valeriano scored again on a wild pitch and Davic Capellan scored after Conor McCabe reached on a fielder's choice.

That was enough for the 5-2 win.

In the second game, the Bearcats scored a season-high 13 runs on 14 hits, led by a pair of 3-for-4 performances by Liam O'Gara and Kemal Deljanin.

A five run second inning and a four run third inning put the game away early for the sweep.

Steven Patterson smacked a solo homer in the fifth inning.

Hasan Deljanin was solid on the mound with 5.0 innings pitched, one earned run, and seven strikeouts to keep the Bloodhounds quiet.

Nicholas D'Angelo took care of all six batters he faced in two quiet innings of relief to finish the game.
