Dunn Dazzles as Ithaca Tops Oswego, 3-1

OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team traveled to Oswego State on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a 3-1 non-conference victory to improve to 23-7 on the season, while Oswego falls to 22-12. The Bombers have now won four straight games and 11 of their last 13.

Senior Emmett Dunn highlighted the afternoon for IC as he tossed eight fabulous innings with 10 strikeouts and just one earned run on four hits allowed with one walk. Dunn, who is now 5-2 on the season, retired 14 straight batters before allowing a hit in the fifth inning. He then tossed perfect sixth and eighth innings before exiting the game.

Senior Matt Eiel entered in relief in the ninth and tossed a perfect frame with one strikeout for his second save of the year. Eiel has now gone 14 consecutive innings without allowing a run.

The Bombers got on the board first with a run in the third inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Adam Gallagher to bring home sophomore Garrett Callaghan, who reached on a single and then moved to third on a stolen base and wild pitch.

Ithaca then added two more runs in the seventh on consecutive RBI base hits by Gallagher and senior Sam Little to extend its lead to 3-0. Senior Cam Fuoti scored on the Gallagher single after leading off the inning with a base hit. W. Little then crossed home on S. Little's single.

Oswego plated a run in the bottom half of the seventh on a wild pitch. After two outs were recorded, the Lakers notched back-to-back singles to place runners on the corners to set up the lone run of the contest.

S. Little and W. Little each notched two hits in the win, while Gallagher drove in two runs. Callaghan and senior Garrett Snyder both stole a base for IC.

The Bombers are back in action tomorrow afternoon with a short trip to No. 22 Cortland at 4 p.m.
