KENOSHA, WI - The Benedictine University baseball team used a five-run fifth inning to score a non-conference win at Carthage and continue to bolster their resume looking towards a potential NCAA bid.

THE DETAILS
• After going down in order in the first, Benedictine opened the scoring with a single run in the second
• Damen Castillo continued his hot string with a single to open the inning and Jack Surin followed with a walk
• Tyler Woynerowski kicked off the scoring with an RBI single
• Carthage tied the game in the bottom of the inning against starter Alexander Schram
• Facing a new hurler in the fifth, Jared Trivette led off with a single and moved up on a sacrifice bunt
• Jack Feeley reached on an infield single to extend his hitting streak
• Jimmy McLaughlin singled home the go-ahead run while another run scored on an error
• Castillo made the score 4-1 with an RBI double and Surin followed with a double to plate Castillo
• Nicholas Quick made it three straight doubles, greeting a new pitcher with a double to left, finishing the outburst
STAT LEADERS
• Schram struck out eight in a rare mid-week start, working five innings to improve to 5-2 on the year
• Justin Sosa fanned four in two scoreless innings while Ty Liaromatis handled the eighth and Marty Maves the ninth
• The pitching staff finished with 13 strikeouts in the game
• Nine players recorded hits as Benedictine finished with 11
• Castillo tallied three hits while scoring twice

• Feeley has now reached base in 25 straight while holding down a 24-game hitting streak
• Mitter has now reached base in 22 straight
• The game was originally slated to be played on Tuesday night but was moved to Wednesday due to all the rain
• The game was the final home contest for Carthage (17-20), who is one of just two non-conference opponents that Benedictine has played to own a losing record this season
• The pitching staff has posted back-to-back games with double-digit strikeouts and owns 10 games with 10 or more strikeouts on the year
