TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Elmira College baseball team placed three student-athletes – Tommy Fogarty '20, Jansen Crossley '20 and Taber Carter '21 – on Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's annual Division III Players to Watch List.

Crossley and Carter are both appearing in the preseason edition of Collegiate Baseball Newspaper for the first time, while Fogarty was included for the third time in his EC career.

Fogarty, a fourth-year first baseman from Wayne, Pennsylvania, is a career .278 hitter who enters his final season with the Purple and Gold sixth all-time in hits (105) and fourth in RBIs (62). He was one of only two players to start all 37 games as a junior in 2019. Fogarty is not only expected to resume his role at first base but to once again be a consistent left-handed bat in the top half of the lineup.

A Vancouver, British Columbia, native, Crossley experienced his best season at EC last spring, during which the former middle infielder found a home as the everyday right fielder. He paced the Soaring Eagles in most offensive categories, including career-highs in batting average (.312), hits (39), and RBIs (21). Like Fogarty. Crossley finds himself ranked among the program's top-10 career batters and should become the seventh player in team history to surpass 100 career hits.

Last season was a key one in Carter's development on the mound. As a sophomore, he finished tied for the team lead in ERA (3.96) in a career-high 38.2 innings of work. The 6-foot-tall right-hander opened the season with three consecutive scoreless outings out of the bullpen before joining the starting rotation. He solidified that spot with a career-high 6.1 innings of one-run ball in a tough matchup against Ithaca, then closed the year by lasting five innings in each of his last three starts.

Carter, Crossley, Fogarty, and the rest of the Soaring Eagles are preparing for the 2020 season-opening road trip to the Sunshine State for the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational. The first doubleheader of the spring takes place on Monday, February 7, against Bates and Brandeis in Winter Haven, Florida.
