SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee baseball team took care of Carroll in a Saturday doubleheader, securing the three-game series with a doubleheader sweep, 9-4 and 11-3, from Montgomery Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-The Tigers offense came out strong in the opening game of the twinbill. Sully McCreery tacked on the first run of the game with an RBI single to score Jared Demkowicz.

-In the third inning, McCreery followed with a two-run dinger to push the lead to 3-0.

-Carroll struck the scoreboard in the fifth with an RBI single by Brad Vosters, but the home team put the contest away in the bottom half of the frame with a five-run inning.

-Sewanee scored five runs in the inning on one hit, an error, five walks and two hit batsmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-In the afternoon session, the Tigers struck for three runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Chris McNulty posted an RBI double before scoring himself at the end of the frame to lead 3-0.

-The Pioneers, in the next half inning, rallied to even the score at three runs apiece thanks to an RBI single and a Sewanee error.

-The score would remain even until the bottom of the third when the Tigers scored four times in the frame. Wesley House started the scoring with an RBI double before Jake Woolard recorded an RBI groundout.

-Wade Sansone reached base on a fielder's choice and McCreery's run made it 6-3. Garrett Liebe pushed the fourth run of the inning across with an RBI base knock.

-Sewanee added two more runs in the fifth, capped by a Jared Demkowicz two-run single.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Chris McNulty, Sully McCreery and Ben Harper each tabbed two hits each in the opening game. McCreery totaled four RBI, while McNulty drove in two.

-Jack Galanek and Jake Woolard recorded two walks in game one.

-Dalton Buckingham (1-0) secured his first win of the 2020 campaign, tossing six innings of two-hit, one-run ball, walking one and striking out five.

-In game two, Jared Demkowicz and McNulty each posted two hits, while Demkowicz and Wade Sansone each knocked in two RBI.

-Cy Spencer (1-0) allowed one hit and struck out three to secure the game two win in relief.

CARROLL KEY STATISTICS
-Tyler Love led the Pioneers with two hits in game one, while Mitchell Massino and Benton Holly posted two hits each in game two.

UP NEXT
Sewanee will seek a series sweep on Sunday against the Pioneers for a 10 a.m. first pitch.
