Rhodes Walks It Off for Third Game in a Row

Memphis - The Rhodes College Lynx were able to sweep their way through the Rhodes Classic this weekend as they downed No. 18 Coe College Friday afternoon (1-0), No. 2 Webster University Saturday (15-5, 8 innings), and Transylvania Sunday afternoon (5-4), while ending each game in walk-off fashion.

In Sunday's contest, the Lynx were able to come back from a 4-1 deficit, in the final frame, to defeat the Transylvania University Pioneers 5-4 when Wood Kimbrough played hero, hitting the deep sacrifice fly to plate the winning run. John McNair played a big part in Rhodes' seventh consecutive victory as he finished the game 3-for-4 and an RBI. Paul Giacomazzi was able to extend his hitting streak to nine consecutive contests. Andy Shreves (1.2) and Alex Garrett (3.0) threw 4.2 scoreless innings in relief. Garrett was able to record his third victory on the season.
