Lynx Earn 10th Straight Victory After Two Wins Over No. 3-BSC

Memphis - The No. 24-ranked Rhodes College Lynx were able to win both contests in their doubleheader against No. 3-ranked Birmingham-Southern College Saturday afternoon. The Lynx took game one 10-2 and game two 3-1. The Saturday sweep marks 10 wins in a row for the Lynx.

A good starting pitching performance from Jacob Dubs and an explosive offensive day for Rhodes helped them to their game one victory. Dubs tossed six strong innings, while holding the Panthers to two runs on six hits, and striking out six batters. The win improved Dubs to 2-1 on the mound. 

Eight different hitters for the Lynx recorded a base knock in game one, while five of those eight tallied a multi-hit game. Ben Wilson led the way with four, while David RoosChris Penna, Will Heurtin, and Peter York finished with two each.

Heurtin and Giacomazzi each recorded a base hit, extending their hitting streaks to 11 games.

Willard Overstreet led the offense with three RBI, while York and Huertin added two each.

John FearsCarter King, and John Gibbs tossed one scoreless inning apiece.
 

Game two was decided on key hits in the clutch. The Panthers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, which held up until the fifth inning. Overstreet singled up to the middle in the fifth to knot things up 1-1. John McNair and Wilson singled in the following inning to extend the lead to 3-1, which held to be the final score.

Wilson led the offensive attack adding two more hits to his daily total, which brought it to six hits on the day. The only Lynx to record an RBI in game two were McNair, Wilson, and Overstreet. 

Giacomazzi hit safely in game two to extend his hitting streak to 12 consecutive games. 

Chayton Gray threw two scoreless innings, while striking out three hitters. John Medich improved his pitching record to 1-1 as he tossed three innings in relief, sgruck out four Panthers and allowed just one lone hit.

Rhodes and BSC will complete the series tomorrow at Stauffer Field.
