Baruch Sweeps Rivier (15-0, 19-3)

The baseball bats came alive again as the Bearcats recorded 15-0 and 19-3 wins against Rivier University of New Hampshire on Wednesday afternoon in Fort Myers, Florida.

In addition to the season-opening win against Rutgers-Newark (13-6), the Bearcats have now totaled 47 runs in three games.

Paul Sirakowski pitched a gem on the mound with a complete-game shutout of seven innings by scattering six hits with nine strikeouts and only one walk.

The Bearcats scored in every inning and pounded out 16 hits that included triples by Thomas Drouin, Christian Gonzalez, Conor McCabe, and Kevin Linitz.

Luke Lombardi and Eric Diaz had three hits each as the Bearcats received contributions from every part of their roster.

In the second game, the hot bats continued as they quickly scored seven runs on eight hits in the top of the first. They later added more eight runs in the sixth inning to complete the 19-3 rout.

Benjamin Akerman earned the win (3IP, 4H, 2R, 1ER) behind seven extra-base hits (five doubles, two triples) from the lineup.

Liam O'Gara led the 23-hit attack batting 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Diaz (3-4, two RBI, two runs), Steven Patterson (3-for-4, three RBI, three runs), and Nicholas Umile (3-for-4, one RBI, one run) helped power the team.

Twelve different players had at least one hit in the second game win.
