Raiders Break Several NACC Records In 30 Run Win

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – There are pitchers duels, slugfests, close games, and walk offs. Then there was what happened last night. MSOE baseball sent records crashing to the ground and all but destroyed home plate as they scored a whopping 35 runs to take down the Bearcats of St. Vincent on Friday night in Florida.

RESULT
MSOE – 35 | 31 | 2
St. Vincent – 5 | 6 | 5

HOW IT HAPPENED
Last night started off like a normal contest out on the diamond. In fact, MSOE (5-3, 0-0 NACC) started out on the losing end of things after a St. Vincent (2-4) three run first inning put the Raiders down 3-1. The Red & White quickly responded though, plating four in the top of the second, three in the third, and five in the fourth to build an already impressive 13-3 lead. After the Bearcats added two in the bottom half of the fifth, the Raiders opened the floodgates. MSOE scored an insane 12 runs in the top of the six and another 10 in the seventh to enforce the mercy rule. What was left when the dust settled was a Raiders 30 run win that broke the following records:

  • Josh Beier tied the NACC record for most runs scored in a single contest
  • The Raiders broke the NACC record for most runs scored in a single contest
  • The Raiders broke the NACC record for most RBIs in a single contest
