LOS ANGELES — The Occidental baseball team completed its sweep of Whittier with an 11-4 road win on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers posted five runs in the first inning and cruised to the win, adding six more runs throughout the game.

10 different Tigers combined for 15 hits in the offensive outburst, led by Ari Solomon who homered and went 1 for 3, and Preston Chong who was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and a double. Michael Netzel went 2 for 4 with two runs, three RBIs and a double, Angelo Zorn was 2 for 5 with a double and two runs, and Michael Ingram went 2 for 4 with two runs, and an RBI.

Max Sterner secured the win to improve to 3-0 for the Tigers, pitching 4.1 innings with two earned runs against him in his start.

Oxy's bullpen was terrific again, with five different pitchers combining for 4.2 innings without an earned run (Cade Denyer, Jack Winterbauer, Jon Thoren, Ian Vogenthaler and Bryce Coyne).

The Tigers' bullpen, arguably a weakness last season, has become a strength this year with lots of different pitchers performing well when they get their opportunities.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 8-6 overall and 3-0 in SCIAC play.

Oxy has won five of its last six games.

Whittier falls to 3-11 and 0-6.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at home against Rochester on Wednesday.
