NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Washington & Jefferson College baseball team claimed two more victories Sunday to complete the four-game weekend series sweep of Westminster College. The Presidents earned a 10-6 victory in game one before rallying to a 5-4 win in game two to remain unbeaten.

Game 1 - W&J 10, Westminster 6

W&J jumped all over Westminster with a four spot in the top of the first inning to gain the early lead. The big blow in the inning was a two-run triple by Adam Morris (South Park, Pa./South Park). The host Titans cut the deficit in half with a Dawson Porter two-run home run in the bottom half of the frame.

The Presidents tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the third inning when Adam Moore (Olean, N.Y./Archbishop Walsh) doubled home Morris. Luke Virag (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) singled home Moore to give W&J a 6-2 advantage. Morris and Moore tacked on RBI singles in the fourth to extend the lead to 8-2.

The score remained that way until Westminster cut the deficit to 8-4 with a two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning. Morris scored for a third time when Evan Sante (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) singled him home in the top of the ninth. Alec Jackson (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) singled home Moore to give the Presidents a 10-4 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.

Westminster scored a pair to close the gap to 10-6 but could not get any closer as Michael Zito (Nashville, Tenn./Hume-Fogg) recorded the final three outs. Nick Drake (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) was excellent on the mound, as he improved to 2-0. Drake tossed 7.0 strong innings in which he allowed just two runs on five hits. Drake struck out six.

Morris went 4-for-5 at the plate with three RBI and three runs scored. Morris was a homer shy of the cycle. Moore finished with a pair of hits, as did Jason Gregovits (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) and Tyler Horvat (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford).

Game 2 - W&J 5, Westminster 4 (5 Innings - Darkness)

Westminster posted a pair of runs in the first and added two more in the third to take a commanding 4-0 lead in game two. However, the Titans pitching staff couldn't find the strike zone in the fifth inning and the Presidents took full advantage.

W&J scored five runs in the fifth on just one hit. Westminster, who used three different pitchers in the inning, issued seven walks and threw two wild pitches. Dan Beistel (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) walked twice in the frame. The second walk by Beistel brought home Morris to give W&J the 5-4 edge.

Logan Scheider (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny) finished with two of the four W&J hits to lead the offense in game two.

Shane Fox (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) earned the win in relief, as he tossed a scoreless fourth inning. Jonathan Haines (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) recorded his first collegiate save.

W&J (12-0, 9-0 PAC) is scheduled to face Geneva College on Thursday, April 1. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
