Senior Andrew Tri allowed no earned runs and two hits with 11 strikeouts to lead host St. Thomas' 5-1 MIAC baseball win over St. John's in game one of Saturday's doubleheader at Koch Diamond.

The nine-inning game two starts at 3:10 p.m.

The Tommies (11-3 overall, 6-0 MIAC) have won eight in a row since losing a pair of 3-2 decision to St. John's March 24 in U.S. Bank Stadium. Freshman Jake Porter singled to help the four-run sixth-inning, and that ran his hitting streak to eight games.

Owen Best's sinking line drive skipped past the SJU left fielder in the bottom of the sixth inning to plate three runs and build the St. Thomas lead to 4-0. The Purple added a sacrifice fly for a 5-0 advantage. Best and Josh Thorp each had two hits in an eight-hit Tommie attack.

Ethan Roe had both hits, a pair of singles, for SJU (11-5, 1-5).

Tri had lost two previous decisions to the Johnnies including a 1-0 home loss in 2019.
