WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The 10th-ranked Washington & Jefferson College baseball team didn't allow a run over 16 innings and ran its record to 22-0 with a pair of victories over Chatham on Saturday afternoon.

The Presidents defeated Chatham 8-0 in game one and 7-0 in game two. W&J moves to 17-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play while Chatham falls to 6-14, 5-11 PAC.

Starting pitchers Henry Litman (Marietta, Ga./Walton) and Tyler Horvat (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) each earned their fifth wins of the season in strong outings. Litman allowed three hits and struck out six in six shutout innings. Horvat tossed a three-hit, nine inning complete game shutout, and established a career high with 10 strikeouts.

Game One – W&J 8, Chatham 0

W&J capitalized on a Chatham miscue in the bottom of the second inning to establish an early 4-0 lead in game one. With the bases loaded and two outs, Jason Gregovits (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) hit a ground ball through the legs of the Chatham second baseman to plate the game's first two runs.

Horvat singled home another run, and while stealing second, Chatham sent an errant throw to third base which allowed Gregovits to score W&J's fourth run.

Chatham threatened in the top of the sixth inning as the Cougars had runners on second and third with one out. Litman worked out of the jam with a punchout and a groundout to escape unscathed.

W&J added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth as Horvat singled home Logan Scheider (McDonald, Pa./West Allegheny). Peter Kalinski (Washington, D.C./Saint John's College) smacked a two-run single and came around to score on a Nick Rush base hit.

Robby Heberle (Georgetown, Pa./South Side Beaver) worked a scoreless seventh inning to preserve the shutout victory.

Adam Moore (Olean, N.Y./Archbishop Walsh) had three hits and a double to pace the W&J offense. Scheider and Gregovits each scored twice and Horvat and Kalinski each drove in a pair.

Game Two – W&J 7, Chatham 0

Neither team scored in the first four innings of game two as a pitchers' dual emerged between Austin Andonisio and Horvat.

Horvat struck out the side in the top of the fifth, and in the bottom of the frame, W&J scored the game's first run. Luke Virag (New Kensington, Pa./Burrell) doubled home Evan Sante (Pittsburgh, Pa./Plum) to give W&J a 1-0 lead.

In the sixth, Horvat surrendered a one-out double, but stranded Chatham's baserunner on third.

In the bottom of the sixth, Moore drove in Adam Morris (South Park, Pa./South Park) with a double to give W&J a 2-0 lead. The Presidents scored a third run when Nate Rush (Wheeling, W.Va./The Linsly School) plated Moore with a single.

Sante broke the game open with a three-run home run to give W&J a 6-0 advantage in a five-run sixth inning.

The Presidents added a run on a sacrifice fly by Moore to score Morris and Horvat allowed just one run the rest of the way.

Sante accounted for five of the Presidents' seven runs with three RBI and two runs scored and a home run. Morris had two hits, a double, a run and two stolen bases.

W&J concludes its series with Chatham tomorrow in Pittsburgh.
