LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding University senior Peyton Hood threw a no-hitter to lead the Eagles to a 3-0 win over Blackburn College Sunday afternoon on Senior Day. The last no-hitter thrown by an Eagle was on March 30, 2014 when Javier Guerra struck out 11 in a Spalding 16-0 victory over the Red Devils. With the win, Spalding improves to 19-12 on the season and 17-3 in conference play.

Hood, a Louisville, Ky. native, earned his fourth win on the season holding the Beavers hitless, while striking out 12 batters and walking three in 9.0 inning complete game effort. At the plate, the Eagles were led by Evan Trentman, who finished 2-for-3 and scored a run, as well as Eric Meyer who finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.

The game was scoreless through 2.5 innings when the Eagles pushed a run across in the bottom of the third when Mitchell Langley reached on a walk, was moved to third on a Trentman single and Meyer flyout before scoring on a Dryden Schroeder fielder's choice. The Golden Eagles plated two more runs in the bottom of the fifth when Eric Meyer hit a two-run home run to left center, his fourth homer of the season. From there, Hood and the Spalding defense kept the Beavers offense at bay to earn the 3-0 win.

Up next, the Eagles travel to Westminster College May 1-2 for a four-game series against the Blue Jays. Both Saturday and Sunday doubleheaders are slated for a 1:00 p.m. ET start.
