ASHLAND, Va. – Sophomore right-hander Hayden Snelsire (Berlin, Md./Stephen Decatur) tossed five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts and senior Reece Yeargain (Chester, Va./Benedictine) homered and knocked in six in the nightcap as the No. 17 Randolph-Macon baseball team split an ODAC doubleheader with Ferrum on Friday afternoon.

How It Happened: Game 1
- The Panthers used a three-run homer in the first to take the early lead. The Yellow Jackets would respond in the fourth. Yeargain reached on an error, moved to second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on a fly out to center by senior Jacob Selden (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) and scored on a base hit by senior Kevin Mooney (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown). Sophomore Brooks Mazey (Glen Allen, Va./Deep Run) had a single up the middle to move Mooney to second. Senior Shawn Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) blasted a high homer to right, his second of the season, to give the home team a 4-3 edge.
- R-MC would add to its lead in the fifth. Sophomore Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) had a leadoff double and scored on a single by Selden. Yeargain walked and came home on a base hit by Mooney to make it 6-3.
- After Ferrum plated two in the top of the seventh to pull within one, the Yellow Jackets answered in the bottom of the frame. Selden reached on a one-out error and scored on an error. Mooney singled and came home on a sacrifice bunt by Mazey to put R-MC up 8-5.
- The Panthers would score six in the eighth to record an 11-8 victory.

How It Happened: Game 2
- The Yellow Jackets lit the scoreboard in the first. Junior Spencer Pietruszynski (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) drew a leadoff walk and scored on a triple by Iannuzzi. A groundout by senior Mike Nickles (Stafford, Va./Colonial Forge) plated Iannuzzi, giving R-MC a 2-0 lead.
- R-MC added a run in the second as freshman Miles Webb (Norfolk, Va./Granby) reached on an error and scored on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.
- The lead would double in the third. Mike Nickles and Selden walked and Yeargain belted a homer with two away as the Yellow Jackets took a 6-0 advantage.
- Yeargain and Webb had two-run singles in the fifth as the lead grew to 10-0.
- In the sixth, Yeargain had an RBI single and Mooney added a run-scoring double to make it 12-0.
- Ferrum scored two in the seventh to make the final 12-2.
