Marymount Moves Up to Sixth in NCAA Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- After clinching the program's first-ever Atlantic East Regular Season Championship last week, the Marymount University baseball team moved up two spots in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings.

Released last evening, the rankings featured MU in the sixth spot on the list of 10 regional powers. MU wrapped up the regular season with a 2-1 series win over Cabrini University that earned the Saints the No. 1-overall seed in the AEC postseason. The victories marked the first regular-season title in program history and secured with the highest-postseason seed in program history.

Marymount moved ahead of fellow Atlantic East institution Immaculata University, which fell to seventh. The Mighty Macs challenge the Cavaliers of Cabrini, on Thursday, May 13, to determine the No. 2- and No. 3-seeds in the AEC tournament. Penn State University-Abington remained in the top spot after securing a spot in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship game. 

Rowan University and Keystone University held steady in second and third, respectively. York College (Pa.) leapfrogged Penn State University-Harrisburg to take over fourth in the rankings. The Spartans clinched a spot in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Championship with a pair of wins over Eastern University on Saturday, May 8.
