Penn State Harrisburg Receives Votes In Final Division III National Poll

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg baseball received votes in the final D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) Division III Top 25 Poll of the season.

 

The Lions (29-9) received eight votes in the final rankings after a victory over No. 20 Texas Lutheran in the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament before falling by the slimmest of margins to No. 5 Adrian and No. 9 Wisconsin-Whitewater in the tournament's regional round. This season, Penn State Harrisburg set a program record for win percentage (.763), clinched the program's first conference championship since 2013, and made its second-consecutive and third appearance overall to the NCAA Tournament.

 

A number of players also earned individual accolades this season, with Bret Williams being named a First-Team All-American by both the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, as well as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Player of the Year by both organizations. He earned first-team all-region honors from both groups after being tabbed the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Player of the Year and securing first-team all-conference recognition.

 

Dallas Hite was named a Fourth-Team All-American by D3baseball.com after earning first-team all-region recognition from both the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com. He was joined on the NEAC All-Conference First Team by Drew Harshbarger and Matt Parks, with Harshbarger also being pegged the NEAC Pitcher of the Year. Parks secured second-team all-region honors from the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com, while Harshbarger was named second-team all-region by D3baseball.com and third-team all-region by the ABCA/Rawlings. Zach Gettys and Chase Smith also earned spots on the NEAC All-Conference Second Team.
