Mead Honored as Atlantic East Scholar-Athlete of the Year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Marymount University was represented in the end-of-year awards from the Atlantic East Conference on Monday afternoon, as Drew Mead, of the MU baseball team, was named the Atlantic East Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Mead, a senior pitcher for the Saints, produced a 5-1 record this past season on the bump. The left-hander amassed 58 strikeouts with a 4.75 ERA. He was named to the Atlantic East All-Conference Second Team for his efforts.

For his career, the Bushkill, Pennsylvania, native has pitched 131.0 innings, has earned nine wins, and has recorded 130 strikeouts. He has been named the Atlantic East Pitcher of the Week four times and is a two-time member of the Atlantic East All-Academic Team. 

Outside of his work in the classroom and on the diamond, Mead has been just as dedicated to serving the community. He has completed projects with Vs. Cancer, the America Heart Association, Team Impact, and a plethora of local food drives in the Northern Virginia area.
