Coast Guard Outscores Griffins In Early Innings of 16-8 Final

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - (3/5/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-5) scored in the first inning of today's affair with the United States Coast Guard Academy (1-2) thanks to a one-out walk to senior right fielder T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) and a triple to left field from junior first baseman first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.). Unfortunately the Bears scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, 4-1, six in the bottom of the third inning, 10-4, and five in the fourth inning, 15-7, to overshadow Brasier home runs on the third and fourth innings of an eventual 16-8 final.

Brasier was 2-for-5 with a walk, three runs scored, and four batted-in. Price, senior designated hitter Billy Collins (Hatfield, Pa.) (2-for-4, RBI), senior center Nate Campbell (Royersford, Pa.) (1-for-3, BB, R, RBI), and sophomore pinch hitter Zach Redican (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) (1-for-1, RBI) knocked in the other four Griffin runs. Collins hits were both doubles.

Gwynedd Mercy University plays tomorrow, Sunday, March 6, at 11:00 a.m., when they meet Delaware Valley University at Myrtle Beach High School.
