Price and Swire Record Two Hits Apiece, Griffins Go Scoreless Versus Eagles

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - (3/4/2022) - Gwynedd Mercy University (3-4) began their spring break competition at the Ripken Experience with an unfortunate 7-0 loss to the University of Mary Washington (6-4). The Eagles put four runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning, another in the the seventh inning, and two in the eighth, while the Griffins stranded nine runners in the affair.

Junior first baseman Nick Price (Levittown, Pa.) (2-for-4) and senior left fielder Brett Swire (Boyertown, Pa.) (2-for-4) recorded two hits apiece. Three other Griffins  - senior third baseman Jake Martell (Yardley, Pa.) (1-for-4), senior catcher T.J. Brasier (Levittown, Pa.) (1-for-3), sophomore right fielder Barry Walker (Egg Harbor City, N.J.) (1-for-3) - recorded a hit each as well, but all seven of the Gwynedd Mercy University hits were unfruitful singles as no Griffins recorded an extra base hit or a run-batted-in (RBI). On the mound, freshman Ryan Bailey (Levittown, Pa.) took the loss (0-3). He allowed two earned runs on five hits.

Gwynedd Mercy University continues their time at the Ripken Experience tomorrow, Saturday, March 4, with a 12:30 p.m. contest versus the United States Coast Guard Academy.
