UMass Boston Pitchers Set Program Record For Strikeouts In A Game To Begin 2022 Campaign

BOSTON, Mass. – The trio of Alex Amalfi, Dillon Ryan, and Ethan Errera combined to set a new program record for strikeouts in a game with 21 to lead baseball to a 10-1 win over Framingham State University in the Beacons 2022 season debut Monday afternoon at Monan Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Over their nine innings of worker the hurlers scattered just five Rams hits and walked just four batters. The lone Framingham State run was unearned and came in the top of the seventh.

Amalfi and Ryan picked-up right where they left off in 2021 totaling nine strikeouts a-piece. Errera closed out the game with an impressive fast ball to post the final three K's.

At the plate, the Beacons combined for five extra base hits including homers from Drew Metzdorf and Aidan Blake. Thomas Cue also had a day recording a double and a triple in the one-sided victory.

As a team the Beacons combined for eight hits, and were walked 10 times.

The Beacons sealed the season opening victory in the fourth inning when they put-up five runs thanks to a two-run single by Craig Corliss and a two-run bomb from Blake.
