Giants Enjoy Convincing 11-1 Win Over Marymount

DAVENPORT, Fla. - Nathan Hinkley (Bradenton, Fla./Saint Lucie West Centennial) tossed a complete game and had plenty of run support in Keystone's convincing 11-1 win over Marymount University on Thursday afternoon in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

With the victory, the Giants improve to 3-6 and will take on No. 10 Rowan University (3-1) tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. The Saints (11-1) suffered their first setback of the year and will face Lesley University (4-4) in a doubleheader on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Hinkley threw all seven frames for his second win of the season, scattering four hits while striking out a pair. The righty forced 11 flyouts and eight groundouts.

Hinkley enjoyed run support from the opening inning as the Keystone bats were alive, scoring in every inning except the sixth. The Giants plated two runs in the first, third, and fifth frames with three tallied in the second. Keystone finished with 10 hits on the day.

Keystone's first five runs of the game came via the longball as RJ Gouldsbury (Throop, Pa./Mid Valley)Bobby Pokorney (Margate, Fla./J.P. Taravella) and Jason Thomas (Miami, Fla./Barbara Goleman) all went deep. Gouldsbury launched a two-run shot in the first, while Pokorney and Thomas followed with back-to-back homers in the second.

Gouldsbury finished the day 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs while Adam Kelly (Beach Lake, Pa./Honesdale)Chris Hadsall (Lehman, Pa./Lake Lehman), and Pokorney all drove in two runs each. Thomas enjoyed a two-hit day while Vince Montone (Oak Ridge, N.J./Jefferson Township) and Evan Fallwell (Tucson, Ariz./Sabino) provided doubles.

Marymount tallied just four hits with Bryce Smith accounting for the Saints' lone run with a solo homer in the fourth.
