Andrew Pendleton had five RBI as part of an eight-run bottom of the eighth inning to help Berry complete a three-game Southern Athletic Association sweep of Oglethorpe, 12-8, Monday afternoon in Mount Berry, Ga.
For the weekend, Pendleton finished 6-of-9 against the Stormy Petrels with two homers, a triple, a double, 12 RBI and four runs scored. In Sunday's first game of the doubleheader with OU, the sophomore from Dallas, Ga., hit a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth, part of an eight-run frame, to help the Vikings to a 13-7 win.
Mason Carnes pitched four innings of relief, allowing just one run to pick up the win in game three.
The Vikings (12-5, 3-0 SAA) played catch-up all game, with Oglethorpe scoring four times in the first. Berry would trail 8-4 after six innings until the eight-run outburst in the eighth.
Pendleton's homer two batters into the eighth inning made it 8-6. After the Vikings would take the lead thanks to three OU (6-9, 2-4 SAA) errors, Pendleton ripped a bases loaded double to right to score all three runs and make it 12-8.
The Vikings will be back in action Tuesday at Covenant.
