Wolves Drop Pair to Dutchmen

DAVENPORT, Fla. — The Keuka College Baseball team was swept in a doubleheader in Florida on Sunday against Union College.

Keuka College (1-3) dropped the opener 7-5 and then fell in the second game 15-3.

Union College 7 vs. Keuka College 5

Keuka College scored first on Sunday. Ryan Seales (Saratoga Springs, N.Y. / Saratoga Springs) tripled home Nick Brown (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool). Seales then scored himself for a 2-0 lead.

Union College did not waste time answering. The Dutchmen scored five in the bottom of the third for the lead.

Seales led the Wolves to a run again in the fifth. The senior hit his second RBI single in the game to cut the margin to two, 5-2.

Union added two more in the bottom of the sixth. Keuka got two back in the seventh on a two-run double by Ryan Seales, but the Wolves would strand the tying run at first base as Keuka fell 7-5 in game one.

Lead Wolf: Senior Ryan Seales led the way at the plate for the Wolves. He finished with two triples and a double. Seales accounted for all five of Keuka's runs. He drove in four and scored one himself.

Union College 15 vs. Keuka College 3

The Dutchmen carried their momentum into the second game. Union scored two in the top of the first for the early lead. The Wolves got one back with an as a groundout by Devyn Scheidt (Brockport, N.Y. / Brockport) scored Josh Tryon (Elmira, N.Y. / Thomas A. Edison).

Union added five runs in the top of the fifth. Keuka responded with one in the bottom, but the game was in the hands of the Dutchmen. Union added two in the fifth and three in the sixth to widen their lead. Keuka added one in the sixth, but Union tacked on three more in the seventh for the 15-3 victory.

Lead Wolf: Kole Schmerder (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal) had one of Keuka's two hits in game two. The freshman hit a double in his only at-bat for his first career hit.

  • Keuka College is now 1-3 all-time against Union College
  • Game one was the 12th time a Keuka College player had two triples in a game. Seales and others sit one behind of Josh Tryon, who hit three in the Empire 8 Tournament last season

Up Next for Keuka College: The Wolves rescheduled Friday's game with Knox College for tomorrow, Monday, March 21 in Florida. The Wolves and the Prairie Fire started their game, but it did not become an official game before it was called due to lightning.
