BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College baseball team took round one of the Route 42 rivalry against EMU winning 5-2 on Tuesday afternoon.

- Final Score: Bridgewater – 5, Eastern Mennonite– 2
- Records: Bridgewater (14-6, 2-1); Eastern Mennonite (7-10, 4-2)
How It Happened
- Bridgewater scored in the first inning when Jarret Biesecker scored from third base on an error from the catcher.
- Biesecker came through for the Eagles again in the bottom of the second ripping a hit to right field driving in Timothy Hopson
- EMU got on the board in the fourth to make it 2-1 Eagles.
- Brett Tharp stretched the Eagles lead back to two in the sixth on a double to left center field driving in Hopson.
- The Royals inched closer in the seventh on an RBI single from Brett Lindsay. Bridgewater still held onto the lead up 3-2.
- Collin Reid extended the lead for BC in the bottom half of the frame driving a ball to centerfield to score Kevin Navedo and Jeffrey Snider. That's all the Eagles would need as they would hold on to win 5-2.
Match Notes
- Hunter Clever started for the Eagles going 2.1 innings and striking out three.
- James Swart took over for Clever going 2.1 to earn the win.
- Tucker Hrasky went 1.1 innings striking out two.
- Nick Griffin went 0.2 innings and struck out one.
- Tharp earned his sixth save of the season going 2.1 innings and striking out two. His six saves tie him for second in the ODAC. He also went 2-3 at the plate with an RBI.
- Reid went 1-3 with two RBI's.
- Hopson scored two runs.
