Neumann Splits with Centenary in AEC Doubleheader

ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University baseball team split an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader with Centenary University on Saturday afternoon. The Knights won the first game 6-3. The Cyclones took the nightcap 19-4.
 
In the first game, Andrew Curran had two hits and three RBI. Will Hart pitched a complete game for the win. Over 7.0 innings, Hart allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out four.
 
Zach Ray led off the second with a walk and came around to score on a double by Curran for a 1-0 Neumann lead. The Knights added three runs in the third inning. Shawn Vega scored on a sacrifice fly by Marcus White. Curran knocked in two more with a single later in the inning.
 
Leading 4-2 in the sixth, the Knights took advantage of a Cyclones error to score two insurance runs.
 
Zach Mullins started game two and took the loss. He went 3.0 innings and allowed six runs on eight hits. Nick ColonDrew HastieBilly HuntBrian Van Etten and RJ Mawhinney all saw time out of the pen.
 
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the first, White singled in Nick Glebocki. Centenary answered with four runs in the second for a 6-1 lead. The Cyclones scored at least a run in all but the third inning.
 
The Knights scored three runs in the sixth. Ray doubled to knock in two runs. Marty Cortellessa hit a sacrifice fly to score White.
 
Neumann (7-10, 3-3 Atlantic East) heads to Salisbury on Monday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3:00 PM.
