Plattsburgh, N.Y. - Oswego State took both games from the Plattsburgh State Cardinals on Monday afternoon, winning 19-6 and 8-2. The Lakers compiled 34 hits over the two games, as the #16 team in the country improved to 15-5, while Plattsburgh fell to 10-8.

Kyle Cremin (Yorktown Heights, NY/Kennedy Catholic) and Kaden Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, NY/Beekmantown) each had multi-hit games in the doubleheader, with Kowalowski driving in a run in game two of the twinbill.

Game 1: Oswego 19, Plattsburgh 6

The Lakers got off to a blistering start in game one as Ryan Enos smoked a ball of the wall in left to bring in the first run of the game. An RBI single followed and an error extended the inning for Oswego when Tishawn Featherstone hit a long three-run home run to spot six runs for the Lakers' starting pitcher.

The Oswego offense tacked on two runs in the second and three more in third before Ryan Lawyer (Schenectady, NY/Colonie Central) was able to come in a settle down the Lakers' offense. After holding them to one run in the fourth and fifth, the Cardinals finally got on the board, when Christian Lent (Miller Place, NY/Miller Place) scored on a wild pitch to make the score 12-1.

A five-run sixth put the game well out of the reach, but the Cardinals responded in the bottom of the seventh with five runs of their, all without the benefit of a hit. The team had two RBI walks in the inning, an RBI HBP, a run scoring on an error, and another run scoring on a wild pitch, making the score 17-6. The Lakers would add two more in the ninth, as they took home a 19-6 win.

Gabe Mounkhall (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) threw a scoreless inning for Plattsburgh, striking out three in his inning of work .

Game 2: Oswego 8, Plattsburgh 2

Game Two of the day proved to be a far closer affair than the first game, as the game was very close throughout the first six innings.

Starter Peter Gregory (New Rochelle, NY/New Rochelle) worked out of two jams in the first two innings, stranding four runners combined. In the bottom of the second, the Plattsburgh offense got cooking as Nolan De Melfi (Shirley, NY/William Floyd) led the inning off with a single to left. With one out, Christian Ott (Kingston, NY/Kingston) followed with a single to right and Alex Kornblau (Pound Ridge, NY/Fox Lane) smoked a single up the left field alley to plate De Melfi and give the Cardinals their first lead of the day. On the next pitch, Kowalowski laid down a perfect bunt for a safety squeeze, scoring Ott and also reaching first for an RBI single.

The lead was short lived however, as Oswego cut the lead in half in the third with a run and took a 4-2 lead with three runs in the fourth.

After the fourth inning, Justin Osborn (Latham, NY/Shaker) was able to hold the Lakers' offense at bay, throwing up zeroes in the fifth and sixth. The Oswego starter had settled in for the Lakers, however, as the team could not get a runner on base in the fifth or sixth inning. After a four-run seventh put the game nearly out of reach for the Cardinal offense, the Oswego starter was able to work around a two-out single from Kowalowski to end the game and give Oswego the win.

Plattsburgh State will head back out for the final game of the SUNYAC series on Tuesday, as the teams will play a single nine-inning game at 1 pm.
