ASHLAND, Va. – Junior Ethan Iannuzzi (Chesterfield, Va./Cosby) smacked two home runs and knocked in three as the Randolph-Macon baseball team edged fifth-ranked Lynchburg 6-4 in ODAC action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Basics
Score: Randolph-Macon 6, Lynchburg 4
Venue: Hugh Stephens Field at Estes Park
Records: R-MC 18-7, 7-4 ODAC; LYN 23-6, 10-2 ODAC
How It Happened:
- The Yellow Jackets started the scoring in the third. Sophomore Grayson Bush (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) reached on a bunt single and went to third on an errant pickoff attempt. A squeeze bunt for a single by sophomore Matt Myers (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) brought home Bush with the game's first run. Iannuzzi belted a long homer to left to make it 3-0.
- The Hornets tallied single runs in the fourth and sixth before R-MC responded in the bottom of the sixth. Junior Carter Johnson (Southampton, Va./Southampton) drew a two-out walk, went to second on a base hit by freshman Aaron Lautenschlager (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) and scored on a single by freshman Lincoln Lubsen (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy) to give the Yellow Jackets a 4-2 edge.
- After Lynchburg stranded two in the top of the seventh, Iannuzzi homered again to left, his seventh of the season, to give R-MC a 5-2 advantage.
- The Hornets put up two in the top of the eighth to pull within one. In the bottom of the frame, Johnson drew a leadoff walk, went to second and third on wild pitches and scored on an error to make it 6-4.
- Lynchburg put two on in the top of the ninth, but sophomore Cole Stamm (Irvington, Va./Middlesex) fanned the final batter to record his first save.
By The Numbers
- Sophomore Drew Ramos (Williamsburg, Va./Lafayette) pitched the first five innings, allowing five hits and one run with two walks and five strikeouts to pick up the win and improve to 3-0.

- Stamm struck out two of three batters he faced in recording the save.
- Lynchburg stranded 13 in the game.
